Below is a testimonial that Paul wrote after the trip (please
note the Camper used on the trip is the Goin' Bush model)
| Dear Steve and Nikki, I would just like to take a
moment to express our thoughts on your product and how
it performed during our recent trip to Cape York. Two
years ago we where in the market for an off road camping
trailer that would suit our needs. We did some extensive
research and looked at hundreds of manufactures to find
what we where looking for. We always found ourselves
coming back to Armadillo for a number of reasons. The
construction was tough and made of very sturdy material,
a requirement I thought a must as I planned on doing
some of the roughest tracks in Aus, the price was very
competitive, but above all, the service was outstanding.
And this has been proven again and again in your after
sales service as well. In Jan 2009 we picked up our
trailer and couldn't have been happier. It was about
this time that we started to plan our Cape York Trip
of a lifetime. As always, there are many experts when
it comes to planning a trip and talking to some of these
so called experts, informed us that the trailer was
not built tough enough and it wouldn't make it. "You
need independent suspension and more clearance". This
was concerning, but after talking to Steve, our minds
where at rest and as we expected, the so-called experts
where idiots. On the 23rd July 2011 we set off for the
Cape. Three vehicles from Bundaberg and one from Alice
Springs, which we met in Cairns. The trailer tows so
effortlessly behind the Prado and it was very comforting
to know that every night we would have a comfortable
bed with ease of set up. We where going to be dry and
comfortable for the whole month. The first test was
the Bloomfield Track on Cape Trib, which was done with
more ease than drinking a cold beer, and believe you
me, we found that pretty bloody easy by this time. The
next real test was the Frenchman's track in FNQ. This
was a bit daunting and we had heard many horror stories
before getting on it. The stories where not far off
being true and the Pascoe River crossing was looking
ominous. Even more daunting was the exit on the other
side, with its vertical ascent and huge rocks to climb
over. This proved a little too daunting for two of our
party who turned around and retreated to go the long
way. They didn't have an Armadillo!! I gotta tell you,
the trailer was unbelievable. It followed the Prado
without hesitation and handled the rocks and water with
ease. Not a drop inside.. This gave me a lot of hope,
as I knew that the famous Telegraph Track was yet to
come. This was the ultimate test. The Telle Track is
famous for destroying cars and trailers alike, and this
proved to be true for some trailer manufactures as we
passed them, with their independent suspension, all
broken on the side of the road. I must admit there was
a small chuckle on my part when I think about the advice
I received earlier. The track was tough and the water
crossings deep, 1.2mts in one spot. But the Armadillo
just took it all in it's stride. The was no water or
dust what so ever inside the trailer and it performed
as it should for the entire trip. Not sure how many
corrugations we went over but it must be in the millions,
and not one issue from the Armadillo. Everywhere we
went we where getting asked, "what type of trailer is
that and who makes it" as those from the very expensive
manufactures conducted repairs on their trailers. It
was very satisfying to be sitting at Cape York enjoying
a cold one, watching others fix their 80k plus trailers
cause they didn't stand up to the punishment. Steve
and Nikki, we have put this trailer through the ultimate
torcher test over a four-week period. We did 7053km's
and the majority of this was dirt. We had no major issues
at all with the trailer and this adds to a fantastic
trip. You can be very confident in your product when
someone asks, how tough is it? Just show them some of
my photos and tell them the proof is all there. Armadillo
is a superior product that will handle anything you
want to throw at it, we can vouch for that, and this,
backed with the exceptional service from yourselves,
makes our purchase one of the best decisions we have
made. Thank you for making this trip a memorable one
for all the right reasons. We are now busily planning
our next one, and we'll be sure to keep you informed,
but one thing's for sure, no matter where we go we know
that the Armadillo will be following behind making it
all look easy. Thanks, Paul and Marion |
